Installation queries

what are the water connections at the back of the shower?
The water connections at the rear of the shower originate from the diverter assembly and have 15mm threads. Fitting flexible hoses onto this shower should then go onto isolation valves then feeding to the Hot and Cold water supply in the property. Ideally you should ensure that you finish your pipework around 1 Mtr from floor level in the corner for corner fitting showers, or in the middle of the shower, if you have purchased a shower that fits against a single wall. You must make the connection for the pipes with an 15mm Isolation valve
My shower doors do not open smoothly
In order for your doors to open and run smoothly they need to be correctly fitted to ensure they are not too tight in the runners, that they run level and finally that they are lubricated.Using the spanner supplied with your shower follow the instructing in the manual to align the door heights and so they open and close without binding. Once the doors are opening and closing smoothly, you may wish to apply some silicone lubricant spray. Due to the door wheels (Cams) coming into constant contact with water and detergents, the wheels may become awkward to move, by regular cleaning and lubrication of the wheels, you can ensure they provide a long service life.
How much clearance is there under the shower?
Under most of our steam shower tub bases there is approximately 25mm clearance from the bottom of the waste assembly to the floor. (This height is variable depending on the height the adjustable feet are set). The waste from any shower needs a suitable ‘Fall’ to enable water to leave the tray correctly. Slow draining water means that the fall is too shallow. If your shower is located on a wooden floor or built onto a raised level, you can easily acquire the correct fall required. Where the shower is installed on a solid floor allowing for a suitable fall should be considered. You will also need to ensure that a low level ‘Trap’ is fitted on the waste pipe.
We want to install a steam shower cubicle in an outbuilding which only has mains cold water supply. What are our options for a steam shower... is a power shower option available?
A cold only fed is not an option for steam showers I'm afraid. This is because there would be no showering option. A cold only fed would need an electric shower to be inside the cabin, electric showers are not able to be installed in environments that do not allow the condensation (steam) to escape as this is a higher 'IP' rating than the electric shower lawfully allows
Are shower cabins easy to install?
High-quality shower cabins are really easy to install. You only need a few, common tools and DIY know-how to put them together. Then you just connect the shower to the mains. Alternatively, you could get a plumber to do that bit for you, but for the most part, it is only screws and bolts
How much does it cost to install a shower cabin?
You can install a shower cabin yourself if you’re competent at DIY. If you’re not, then you’d usually be looking at £200 -£250 for labour. This would depend on where you live and on whether you need someone to assemble the shower cabin or just to connect it or do anything additional to building the shower
Do I need a professional to install the shower?
No, if you can put together flat-pack furniture you can put together a shower cabin. If you can plumb in a washing machine you can plumb in a shower. If you can’t, it’s no problem. There will be plenty of local tradespeople who can install the shower for you
Do you recommend any fitting services?
You can fit the shower yourself if you’re handy at DIY. If not, the easiest way to get a fitter is to check your local area for recommendations. Any handyperson can put a shower together. Any plumber can install one. Just look for someone with good reviews and reasonable prices
Some showers need an extra 40cm space, why is that?
You need additional space to access the back of the shower during the build. This is at access the water connections and panel fixings. Therefore, the item is built away from the wall until completed to allow a body behind. Once finished, the shower will slide back into place, flush against the wall without any gaps
